An International Buffet at St James
Thursday, 24 April 2008

A very special thank-you goes out to all who were involved in the preparation of the International Buffet held at the EDS offices in St James today.

One of the organisers mentioned that she was amazed at the number of people who got involved by making the variety of food, cakes, desserts, etc. Even more special was the help by many helping hands with the clean up and moving around of desks and chairs. A true team spirit in making today really special!

The variety of food offered was fantastic and there were so many choices - Indian Sub-Continent had variety of rice dishes, curries, samosas, etc. Other tables featured more traditional British dishes which included quiches, savoury muffins and delicious sandwich cakes. The desserts were of course delicious with so much variety and textures. To complete the EDS image we had a fruitcake with the EDS logo on it :-)

The camaraderie was enough to bring a tear to one's eye when seeing the connection between colleagues to bring about a successful function in aid of Carey's Bone Marrow Fund.

There are many who worked hard to bring about the success of today. I realise too how committed these individuals were in lending a hand to help out a colleague in need.

The story does not end there. Management have indicated their interest in Carey's cause and there has been a suggestion of a similar event soon!

An initiative is to have a regular update and fund chart displayed on site - so that everyone can share in the desire to see Carey's Bone Marrow Fund grow and also to be updated on her progress until she is well again.

As a dear colleague commented today... In looking at the target we need to reach, it seems so high for one person or even one family on their own - but many rivers make an ocean.

I am truly grateful to all of you for making today so special and also in showing that the people of EDS have their hearts in the right place.
